'Blue Fuzzy Dwarf' False Cypress
'Blue Fuzzy Dwarf' False Cypress
Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Blue Fuzzy Dwarf'
--Mature Height : 5 - 7 ft
--Mature Width : 4 - 5 ft.
--Growth Rate : Moderate to fast ( 6" - 12" avg per yr )
--Hardiness Zones : 5 - 9
--Sun Exposure : Full sun to partial shade - enjoys a break from any extreme hot midday summer sun if available....but not necessary.
--Soil Preference : Average, fertile, well drained. Slightly acidic. Mulching strongly recommended.
--Foliage Color & Texture : Very soft textured juvenile type foliage with excellent density & blue-green color. Will bronze / discolor with exposure to harsh, cold conditions - but bronzing is temporary, and varies in intensity depending upon amount of exposure, and exact planting location.
Very soft silvery-blue foliage stays dense giving this plant a sort of "fuzzy" appearance - hence its name. Foliage takes on a slight purplish / bronze color in colder climates. The more harsh exposure it receives, the more pronounced this discoloration will be. Easy to grow - average moisture, likes soil with a little organic content in it. Full sun to part shade, but best color in 50/50 situations. Fast grower that will reach maturity quicker than most Chamaecyparis. Best used as an accent plant, or in grouped plantings. Very unusual plant - and hard to find. Little to no maintenance required at all.......which is always a plus.
